St. Mary's Pre-School


Westbury Preschool opened within the Nursery Room at Easter 2014 to provide a warm, welcoming and caring provision for children from the age of 2. We are currently open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:50am – 3pm during term time.


We have 16 children on role and 2 qualified members of staff. The Leader holds a BAHons in Early Years Leadership and the Deputy a Diploma in Preschool Practice.

We also have a full time apprentice who assists in the Pre-School on a daily basis with some time spent in class 1 working with reception children through to year 2 children.


Access to the setting is at the rear of the school building. This is via 2 steps, however, alternative access is available through the school for anyone with a mobility impairment.

 

Information on the EYFS is available from www.foundationyears.org.uk The environment is planned to encourage autonomy with most resources available for children to self select.


Opportunities for a range of activities including mark making, craft, sand and water play are available daily. There is a balance of adult led and child initiated learning experiences to enable children time to develop relationships make relationships, make choices, explore and solve problems at their own pace.

 

An undercover outdoor play area adjacent to the room is available daily. In addition to this we also enjoy use of the school playground, play equipment and field.
